The Emak Group purchases sustainability credits from the Tuscan-Emilian Apennine National Park and offsets the emissions of its Italian vehicle fleet

The Group’s Italian companies – Emak, Comet, Tecomec and Sabart – have purchased sustainability credits from the Tuscan-Emilian Apennine National Park, which will be used to manage the park’s forests in a sustainable and responsible way and to support its communities, offsetting the emissions produced by the Group’s Italian vehicle fleet in 2023.

Bagnolo in Piano (RE), 24 July 2024 – The Emak Group has taken a further step forward on its path to sustainable development. Its Italian companies Emak, Comet, Tecomec and Sabart have purchased a total of 342 sustainability credits from the Tuscan-Emilian Apennine National Park and UNESCO MAB Biosphere Reserve, which will be used to restore and protect the park’s forests and support its communities, offsetting the 342 tonnes of CO2-eq produced by the Group’s Italian vehicle fleet in 2023. The credits derive from forests managed in a sustainable and responsible manner, certified according to FSC and PEFC standards.

The initiative is part of the Group’s broader “Plan to eliminate the Scope1 emissions produced by the vehicle fleet of the Italian companies”, which was approved on 14 March this year by the board of directors of parent company Emak S.p.A. The target will be achieved by formulating a new car policy aimed at reducing impact on the environment – by incentivising the inclusion in the vehicle fleet of electric and hybrid cars, or in any case, less polluting models than those currently in use – and offsetting emissions through the purchase of certified sustainability credits of equal quantity to the emissions produced by the Group’s Italian vehicle fleet.

We have always been committed to creating and distributing value to the communities and territories in which we operate, supporting social and cultural initiatives. Mindful of our role and aware of the contribution that we can and must make also in the field of environmental protection, with the purchase of sustainability credits from the Tuscan-Emilian Apennine National Park we have concretised our commitment to reduce the Group's environmental impact, supporting actions to bolster the resilience of local forests in countering the negative effects of climate change,” explained Luigi Bartoli, CEO of the Emak Group.

During 2024, Emak's commitment in this field was recognised by multiple organisations: the Group was named a “Sustainability Leader” in the ranking developed by Statista/Il Sole 24 ore and was one of 350 Italian companies in the “Sustainability Champions” list drawn up by the German Institute for Quality and Finance (ITQF), which surveyed the actual commitment of companies by interviewing their employees.
